Arkansas Toyota owners protest automaker's stand on fuel efficiency

Melanie Gentry
"I purchased my Sienna van in 2003 because I needed a vehicle with long term reliability and great space for kids and cargo that had the best possible gas mileage. I have been thrilled with my van and will drive it for 3-4 more years. I look forward to an even better Toyota vehicle in the future and am shocked Toyota is not committing to these fuel efficiency standards"
- Melanie Gentry of Vilonia, AR

Sherrin Richardson
"I bought my Prius because I wanted to lead by example in helping to protect the environment and fuel efficiency. This is my 3rd Toyota and I am shocked to think that Toyota opposes higher fuel efficiency standards. They really should reconsider their position."
- Sherrin Richardson of Clinton, AR

Don Richardson
"We have been proud Toyota owners for more than a decade. My Toyota Tacoma truck suits my work needs very well and is economical and fuel efficient. I would think that if any car company should be for higher fuel efficiency standards, it should be Toyota. I am disappointed in the company that I have put a lot of faith in."
- Don Richardson of Clinton, AR

Nancy Miller
"I have owned Toyotas for several years now and have been pleased with the quality of their automobiles. I recently bought a Prius because I am concerned about doing my part to live more gently on the Earth and to set an example for my grandchildren. I am appalled to learn that Toyota is opposed to the 35MPG fuel efficiency standard."
- Nancy Miller of Clinton, AR

Adam Jones
"I paid more for my Toyota because I wanted a truck with good gas mileage, but that could still get me to the rural parts of the White River for fishing and kayaking. I also knew they supported good environmental quality. I'm shocked to hear that they are no longer supporting those issues. I hope they realize that they are truly backtracking."
- Adam Jones of Little Rock, AR

Kitty Gray
"I bought my Prius because of its very high fuel efficiency. I commute to work about 50 miles one way. The Prius is a very economical and safe way to travel plus I feel like I am helping the environment by owning and using such an efficient vehicle. The fact that Toyota would oppose the fuel efficiency standards in the energy bill is very upsetting to me."
- Kitty Gray of Mayflower, AR
